Design of a city garden in Aalst

September 2025

This small, walled city garden is currently still a concrete plain, but it will soon be transformed into a paradise.

The tall walls will be covered with flowering, wonderfully scented climbing plants. These will also continue to climb along cables that hang across the garden. This will create more layering in the garden and provide shade on the terrace. The flat roof will become a green roof, and the rainwater will be collected in a pond basin.

There will be a varied range of plants. Flowers can be found in every season of the year. In early spring, a line of crocuses will wind its way through the lawn.
The street will also be brightened up with a small façade garden.

Bachelor project - The Green Care Campus

June 2024

We were given three weeks to work on the design of our campus. These are a few images from the project.

The campus will become a shared space for landscape architecture students, students from various medical disciplines, and patients. This forms the foundation of my design.

A botanical-style garden will be created, with a special focus on medicinal plants.

Winding through the rehabilitation garden is a red handrail that patients can use for support during their recovery. This rail also serves as a structural element for tables and swinging benches.

The red handrail reappears at the main entrance, acting as both a gateway and a guiding sculptural feature.

Two of the roofs will be transformed into green rooftop terraces.

The entire campus garden will become a pleasant, green environment with plenty of inviting seating areas.

Planting design front garden Wetteren

April 2024

This front garden consists of four planting beds. The roses and boxwood that were previously planted had completely deteriorated due to diseases and pests, so new planting was needed.

The new plants are stronger and more resistant to disease. Thanks to the wide variety of species, there's something to enjoy in the garden all year round. It's almost always in bloom.

The bumblebees and butterflies love the new plants, and so do the residents.

(These photos show the front garden 1.5 years after planting.)
